The book of hints shows drawings of what the player needs to do next and where items are located. If stuck, the game offers a built in hint system. The game also has some elements from the hidden object genre as some items, as well as the hero's pet, are well hidden in the scenery. Therefore it is necessary to time movements right and to use hideouts to avoid being seen. If he is seen, he has to restart from the last save point. In addition to the puzzles the thief has to stay out of the way of guards and other enemies. Items that have been picked up can then be used on other objects to trigger certain actions. The thief is moved around the screen by tapping where he should go. The game is controlled like a traditional point and click adventure game. The game consists of six themed chapters with five levels in each. Set in a medieval world full of greed and corruption, the Robin Hood-esque titular thief stands up for the people by stealing from the corrupt authorities and giving to those in need. Tiny Thief is a point and click adventure with some elements of stealth.
